You might be able to get engine mounts from a series 3 stage 1 V8.
The engine location was probably determined by the gearbox. You either change engine or gearbox mount locations during a conversion. Regards John D - Defender 110 2.4 |

Thanks John,
Didn't think of that, how hard would they be to get hold of in Aus, or if anyone else knows of a UK supplier? Cheers G |

I would stick with the standard engine side mounts and weld the correct V8 mounts onto the chassis. It should be easy enough to find an old V8 Rangie chassis to cut the mounts off and weld them onto your chassis.
BITD when Series V8 conversions were relatively common over here you could buy a conversion kit which included engine brackets that matched up with the 2.25 chassis mounts so if you don't want to weld the chassis you could make up some adaptor brackets. It sounds like the conversion is using a standard Series gearbox and the position of that determines the engine position. Moving the engine forward would mean moving the gearbox forward which would put the gear levers in the wrong place. |
