Watch for the City of London motorbikes blow up trying to keep up with the mighty SD1. Pom |

I had one but mine was a 2600s in that lovely BL Canary Yellow. I loved that car, if I won the lottery I'd have another and get it back into mint condition.

I have worked in London all my life and knew every road they drove, strange how everything but also nothing has changed, great idea of someones to use the royal parks that saved them a bucket load of time, obviously the M25 had not opened i wonder if that would have been quicker these days and one of Essex's Impetzers or Evo's from their interceptor squads could do it any quicker. No case to argue anyway as it would be helecoptered straight there thesedays. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

I used to be in the "job" and drove both the SD1 and the 3.0 Ford Granada I can say without a doubt that having tested both to extremes the Granny was the better car. I loved the V8 burble but the Dagenham dasher was the best bet in a chase or an emergency run, it was so predictable and stable. The rover did oversteer under fast cornering.Contrary to popular belief all cars where totally standard but maintained to very high standards. When we first got a 2.8 injection Capri then game changed completely due to the arse hanging out in any fast corner or a wet roundabout.Sorry to prattle but the video triggered fond memories.
