BigFogs effortless use of his BOAB BBQ last weekend has stirred me into saving up for one! When ever I do one on those £2 disposable ones the sausages get burnt and stick to the grid BigFogs an old hand at this but seeing him just chuck lamb chops on and cooking them to perfection means it's a must have bit of gear in the summer
I can't find them on their site however http://www.boab.biz/ What do others use and any top tips or recipes |

We've got them in stock. And we have some of the extra bits like pot stands. I like the braai because you are not just limited to BBQing. We often brew up a curry or chile on it then when the cooking is done we chuck on a log and keep warm for the rest of the evening. Often when we are travelling and can't rely on a ready source of wood we take those reconstituted logs wrapped in paper which you can pick up in supermarkets and garden centres. Regards Barbara |

At our club events we used to have a big half barrel, but it was a pain to lug around. After than we got a couple of relatively cheap 'kettle' ones, on wheels, with a side tray. We tend to use one as a fire pit after everyone has finished with the food, but the plastic wheels and tray do tend to get a bit - umm - melty!
One of the members picked up one of these on a deal at one of the big DIY sheds last year - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003TSA...B9507G70WN It was quite good, got up to heat OK, but didn't have anywhere to hang tools and I found it very heavy to carry! One our own we tend to use the disposables, but we also have a small portable, which is great for 2 for a quick meal. Like this but without the gas http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/royal-table-to...ve-p133043 |

Actually, love the idea of the braai for our Oz trip, but as we are going in the 90 not a spacious 110, it is down to the NEEDS and WANTS again. hehe
An extra 10kg and nearly half a metre to find space for.... Would like to see one 'in the flesh' to envisage the space it would take up though..... |

Simple things best on barbies I always think - let the food do the talking, good quality ingredients.
However, for really good corn on the cob - tear a piece of foil big enough to wrap you cob in, then sprinkle on fresh ground salt and black pepper. Then spread butter all over your cob and roll in the salt/pepper mix. Wrap the cob, not too tight, leaving foil at the ends so you can pick up off the bbq when hot. BBQ for about 20 minutes, until the butter has started to caramelise and the corn is 'al dente'......... EAT Lamb chops - bbq on a medium hot grill until about half done, then sprinkle with black pepper and lemon juice....leave to finish off cooking ..... EAT ! |

The word braai (plural braaie) is Afrikaans for "barbecue" or "grill" and is a social custom in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
The Boab Braai is made in South Africa and weighs in at 10kg. It is not a lightweight BBQ. Who said those :censored:words? Brendan |

Please tell! I'd love to know how to protect my Brinkmann Pitmaster smoker BBQ from rusting. It's a proper pain having to veg oil it all over before putting it away. Pete |
