2002 Defender 90 Td5 SW Zambezi Silver
Stereo Up Grade Advice Td5
I've searched and found lots of threads for the Puma but little for the Td5 so my questions have to be asked.

I've sourced and fitted a Clarion HU with green illumination and the usual all singing all dancing inputs. Only issue is the perm live which I will attend to. At present it's running the 2 facory fit speakers in th front. There are no speakers in the back.

I want to upgrade the front speakers and would like some recs as to what I should get. My 90 also has air con which is where the speakers fit so does that make a difference to what speakers will fit.

I'm pretty sure I will buy the Defendoor rear panels for 6 x 9's but then I need to get cableing from HU to the rear speakers. It looks like the sensible route is up behing the A pillar trim, along under the headlining and rear glass trim and down to the new panels. Is that the recommended way? Would also like some recommendations for the 6 x 9's or any other 5" component speakers that would be good in the rear locations.

2005 Defender 90 Td5 HT Cairns Blue
I upgraded my stereo with a Blaupunkt head unit and powered sub-woofer which is mounted on the rear of the cubby box out of sight of prying eyes. I retained the original under dash speakers as the aftermarket ones I was after needed spacer rings to fit them as they were too deep and i thought they would look too obtrusive... Anyway very pleased with the end result. The added bass from the sub helps to boost the overall sound and gives a much beefier, more adjustable tone than was previously available from the speakers alone.
I did think about rear mounted speakers as well but as mine is a 90 van with no rear passenger seats i couldn't see much point, the dog doesn't like my music anyway!
The head unit and sub cost about £300 including fitting which i thought was a good deal and more than adequate for the 90 which has the acoustic qualities of a tin hut. Hope this helps.
