Would you buy ?
If you guys had the money to splash out on one of these do you think you would ?

Im trying to do a little re-search into if these sort of Modified Defenders (for more of a Luxury Daily Driver) are really appealing to the market.

Personally i think the Price is High, but then are people REALLY paying this ?

Any Info Appreciated

Cheers

Mike

Personally i prefer the grey one but even if i had the money i wouldnt spend that on a defender. If you wanted luxury you could buy a 2nd hand tdv8 FFRR with all the toys and still have more than enough left over for a brand new 90 xs
I can appreciate the amount of work that goes into these and am sure they are worth every penny of the asking price but its still a defender
If the prices were around 10-12k above the standard car then it would be a different matter Thumbs Up
Just my opinion Thumbs Up

Nope.

Keep it simple - standard Defner with a winch, under body protection, new alloys if you want and - if you really want to splash out - some new front seats.

Those ones look like they're trying just a bit too hard.............

Hmmm. I don't think so either.

I would be more likely to buy a crashed one as a project and rebuild. Maybe on a galvanized chassis, with "last forever" parts such as copper/goodrich brake pipes/hoses. If that were the case, some nice KBX grilles and leather front seats would be in the offing.

My new Defender has had a few extras added, such as steps, bumperettes, noisekiller TGE panels, Dinitrol/ACF50 rust protection etc. Will probably add a few more bits such as front driving lights next year.

It's just personal choice I guess, but I'm not a big fan of too much bling. I guess when do "extras" or "upgrades" become too much bling...personal chhoice. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Fast buck IMO. you buy a new defender for 30k, you bolt on all the parts, swap the trim out for a bought leather one and sell it at a premium.

Anyone can make these special editions.

I like some of them, but there serious money. As greeni says a tdv8 would do better on a shoot!

One of the two adds reads:
Quote ...Supplied with the balance of its 3 Year manufacturer's warranty... Unquote
But the vehicle is tuned to 180 BHP..... What manufaturer's warranty remains valid after that? Rolling with laughter You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

someone's making a load of £ash out of that Rolling with laughter

why not look out for a SVX or just buy an XS and do it yourself... at least if you buy genuine LR, you should get a LR warranty

IMHO Defenders aren't made to go fast, "slow and steady wins the race"

I totally agree with you guys. I guess I was just wondering WHO exactly buys these things cause if I wanted one like that I could prob do it for say £10-15K + the vehicle but these guys are charging up to £65k !!! Mental

I guess someone must buy them if companies are making them

but

I don't understand them at all - makes the vehicle impractical for what its out of the factory intended purpose is / was. Sad

As for 'saddle brown' interior - I've never seen saddlery that colour. Looks more like 'salmon pink' to me. Rolling Eyes

I think £53k is well over the top. You could do all that for alot less and get a fortune for all the parts you take off.

There will always be someone somewhere that'll pick these up. Just keep a eye on these £40k plus ones in pistonheads and they slowly move.
You'll also find someone whose always hankered after a Defender and considers £50k for a bespoke one quite acceptable for the uniqueness. And of course there are those that need a unique relatively bespoke product immediately instead of adding bits n bobs over a few years, like few on here have done...

I like some of the ideas but not the whole product, however rather they did exist that not as it makes Defender world all the more interesting Smile
