It sounds to me like perhaps the throttle pedal is being re-calibrated by the ecu if it has been fully depressed.
I guess in an ideal world, no throttle depression - 0% and full depression = 100% but what if the ecu sees readings for 110%, it may trigger it to re-calibrate it's range. once triggered, does the truck have less power, or is it all still there but just feels different? I would get it connected to a Nanocom or similar. The throttle actually has 3 potentiometers that all need to be working. Sadly you are nowhere near me but someone may have one close to you. Thnaks for the info. The truck has the same power once you press the throttle to the floor, but you just have to press it further than normal to get the same power as you would have before the error occurs. When my local garage plugged it in, it was reading no faults, so dont think a nanocom would help would it? I guess i have to bite the bullet and buy a new pedal assembly and hope its that?? If its not, it will be over £100 down the toilet... Current:D4 HSE Gone: BMW Z4MC Gone: Defender TD5 90 CSW Previous: Discovery TD5 ES (Gone) |

Does anyone know if all the 15p engine Td5 defenders use the 3 pin Accelerator assembly's?
I am thinking of changing mine as a punt on the problem described earlier in the thread. Been offered one which is from a 15p engine defender, but just want to make sure it will fit before I get it. It's a used one, but it's been tested and is working properly, so should help me find the problem, or rule something out.... You need to check the part number on the throttle unit to see if it is a 2 pot or the later 3 pot. The engine ECU needs to be told which one is on the vehicle, but even the later engined units have the 2 pot units on them. I programmed a new unit up this morning on T4 and the T4 software (which has not been revamped by Omitec for a while now) shows the part number for the 3 pot as being SLC000010PMA, although the later number after this is LR031386 which should still be 3 pot.
You need to find someone with Testbook/T4 so that they can see what the live data is saying when it starts happening. T4 will show if the throttle unit is working on live data because both the 2 shown voltages should be adding up to around 5v as the pedal is depressed - One voltage rises while the other falls. |

So if its a 3 pin one, could i replace with a 3 pin one without any retuning or reprogramming.
Have you read my problem im having from the start of the post. Its really peeing em off, hence trying to find the problem. When my local indie checked the pedal, he said it was ok though, but not sure how it came up. The pedal works fine, but as soon as its pressed to the floor, it engages the offroad throttle mode, and doesnt change back to normal until you swtich off the car. No fault is logged, as i guess the car doesnt see it as a fault. I think i need to take it to a specialist LR electrics person... F**K me.......... You need to find someone who has the kit, otherwise you will end up spending more blindly changing parts 'till something fixes it.
Just find someone with T4, or similar dealer level system. They shouldn't charge the earth. |
