I seem to recall reading about fitting a Hella Intermittent Wiper relay to a Defender on another UK forum but that was before the Puma's came out.
Personally I'd really like a variable intermittent on the front wipers more than the intermittent on the rear. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

Not really bothered by this issue. I've got used to the front and as for the rear window i rarely use it other than to see cars approaching a long way off behind me. Having the glass clean is therefore not an issue.
The visibility for traffic out the back is poor with the spare on. I'm half tempted to remove the rear view mirror in the cab for a bit more visibility out front. The new dog guard hardly helps my view out the back either. |

I agree with you dm, I've been looking for a system for some time for my Puma. I understand that Maplin do a intermittent wipe piece of electronics, but was hoping that someone who had done it could advise, as I am not really an auto-electric boffin. I found this thread http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=22316, however I was lost after the second entry.
If you do get any further, please do post the answer and I will (to be honest) get my garage to fit it. Chay PS Anyone know how to download photos onto this arena? |

they do the one above, probably best for the front and anoth called 'robot' with three pre-set delays which would probably be better for the back. The hella timed realy looks the best idea, if it will fit the landie. Would need details of what & where the landie relay is fitted and more info on the hella unit. |

Hey, I have just noticed my 07 XS has front intermittent wipers! Shows how often I drive it. Get my 09 tomoz, so hopefully that will as well. I notice we no longer get the heated front windscreen. Also loose my sunroof ( which I really like, but not going to pay the theives £800 for it.
Would be nice to have intermittent on the rear, just saves scratching the glass & wearing out the wiper blade. Have looked at the lucas catalogue and their intermittent & intermittent relays have the same pin outs, so I bet if the landie rear Hella (i'm assuming it is a Hella) was swapped for an intermittent, it would work fine. Anybody know the exact location of the rear wiper relay? |

Just picked up my new XS It drives like a dream compared to my 07 plate. There was something very wrong with my 07. Shame I had to change, cost quite a bit but I got the best possible deal I could out of the dealers, I almost heard them squeak. Yep it does have a front heated screen. My 07 had a factory fitted sunroof, yep I realise it is an option and was one of the reasons that I selected that particular car. Shame it was a lemon. Don't think I will bother getting a hole cut in the roof, might get one of those trip computer things that plugs into the ECU. Now got to fit all the towing electrics. Hope they are the same as the 07 which are a piece of cake using the genuine LR parts.
I notice the newer ones only come with one central locking fob. I have already complained about that! Whats the point of two keys and only one central locking fob? Without it you can't start the engine (I think, will try in a minute) They also do not give out the radio unlocking code or the manual central locking by-pass code. Was told "if you need it, any dealer wiill be able to obtain it for you", "four o'clock in the morning?" I said, "when I have lost my keys in the mud & need the by-pass code to start the car as LR are too mean to supply two fobs?" Also see the fuel pipe breather has been relocated from the nearside wheel arch. Same three scratchy sounds when the engine stops and a new clonk when started. The clutch is much smoother, the newer models have a differnt clutch and gearbox compared to the 07, different part numbers in the catalogue. Right I better go & put the first few coats of autoglym on it..... then find some mud |

yep found the heated front screen, it is right in front of me!
Where under the bonnet is the second fob tie-wrapped & why do they do this rather than keeping it with the spare key? I could have a look and see if it is there. Can anyone else confirm that the latest XS does come with two fobs? as I would like enough ammo to fire at the dealer. I did question this and the comment from my sales chap was, "actually now you come to mention it, the other one (the demonstrator that he drives) only has one as well. Anybody got a number for Landrover where I can call them directly to confirm? Thanks all. |

My feb 2008 biuld 110 I brought only came with one fob when I brought it 3 months ago, looking under the bonnet it was cable tied on the left front near the radiator (facing rear of the vechile!!!) why I do not know as if previous owner and or dealer who sold it put it there it was pointless as you needed the key and other fob to get in to open the bonnet (unless you are slighlty dodgy yourself!!!)?And if Landrover put it there just as stupid!
