Hi Big Steve,

You're right about Marshall's. Had my forth transfer box seal, yesterday, and they wouldn't answer the question "why?". My handbrake shoes don't get a chance to wear, they are renewed so often! Wish someone would tell me what's going on with these seals.

It is not a seal -- they put sealant on the splines of the shaft on the rear output shaft to stop oil migration

Hi Chris, Thanks for explaining, wish the stealership had taken the trouble (assuming they knew) to tell me. Any idea why I need to have this done twice? It seems quite common among the Land Rover community, and as the LT230 box has been around for yonks, I wonder why it is suddenly a problem.

Not again ... No, it is not.

But as we talk MOT - our dog received an invitation to take our car to the MOT, quite impressive and we were able to spot data leaks by that. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.
