Wild wheel fantasies - Killer 90, your starter for 10...
So now I've got my incredibly sensible snow wheels/tyres sorted and sold my Boosts/Contis, what next?...

Summer wheels/tyres Very Happy

With an Alive tune and some serious attitude I'm looking for something black and exciting with decent "Autobahn rubber" Twisted Evil

Suggestions (preferably with photos) please Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

What is wrong with the Conti's? Thought they are very good summer tires, certainly for Deefers like me who are not really going off road. I am thinking that the day I have to change my Grabbers TR, I would be tempted to go for these Conti's. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Nothing really "wrong" with them - just want to go a bit more sporty with new rims and 265s Laughing Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

20inch rr sport supercharge v shadow rims powder coated matt black
tyres are cooper zeon ltz 275/60/20's imported from usa

the tyres may be a little hard to get so maybe you could go for the discover stt 20inch tyres same ratio i think Thumbs Up

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-285-50R20-COOP...2a17f8b065

that link is for the cooper discovers in 285/50/20 so they are wider than mine and a little skinner Thumbs Up

Are those tyres still standard diameter?

Serious rims but to go from 16" up to 20" in one go might be too much for my heart Laughing

Maybe something more 18" ish... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

na go all out mate, when i had my 16inch mud terrains i brought 265/75/16 instead of the 285's but within two weeks i regretted it sold them and brought the next size up which was the 285/75/16 much happier i was going to get 22 inch but it didnt look right 20's in my opinion are perfect my 275/65/20 fit in the arch perfectly and my dad has 285/75/16 muds on his 110 and they sit in the arch the same so yer around about the same size as 16 inch rims with chunky tyres Thumbs Up

I wonder if I'm going bonkers - I'll admit that I'm not that keen on the look with your truck, but on a dark blue 110, lowered by 2" and with everything else in black...
Mind if I cut and paste your photos a bit? I need to get on Photoshop... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Alternatively you could go for a smaller diameter rim with larger diameter tyres....Depends what you want, whether to fill the void with metal or rubber?

15" rim 10" wide with a 40mm offset.

That looks great too Thumbs Up How's stability with that much air?
What I'm going for is a black sports look with proper road tyres. In Summer I spend a lot of time on the Motorways around southern Europe so I'm looking for a quiet, comfy, low-consumption ride... that looks suitably sinister for my prison truck Laughing

Stability is fine as with the offset they stick out (probably further than they should) but I have had NO MOT issues. Handling is very good and they do not foul. Easy to clean too as you can get your hand and a large sponge between the spokes.

Definitely illegal those. Extending past wheel arch.

An analy retentive plod could fixed penalty you for it.

Mal, the MOT is not interested if the tyre extends beyond the wheel arch. They are basically interested in the safety of the tyres, tread depth, no cuts, no mixed tyre construction etc.

I believe it is under the Construction and Use regulations that those tyres would fall foul. Basically tyre tread must be within a vertical drop down from outermost body point. It I ok for tyre wall to protrude pass but not not tyre tread.
