Auto sleeper do very impressive conversions, but I would tread very carefully if they are fitting an elevating roof.
A ffew years ago my father in law purchased a VW camper from them the roof design was downright dangerous as well as totally dysfunctional. I am told they now use a different roof design but the fact that they sold vans with such a poor roof design reflects poorly on their Mechanical Engineering ability. As for their customer services, they made the worst LR dealer seem like angels. Since my experience of them I belive they have changed hands and some changes have taken place in the senior management but with all conversion companies you need to be careful not to be blinded by the design and finish of the coach making and keep a close eye on the mechanics, gas system, utilities etc. There is no real accreditation for conversions, other than gas safe requirements, as long as the roof does not fall off whilst driving no authorities care about the design. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

No Pom you are wrong they are owned now by British individuals, having been purchased from S.E.A. In Italy, they are not the family who built up the business.
http://www.auto-sleepers.co.uk/news/auto-s...-ownership I spent a great deal of time liaising with both AS and the crook of a dealer involved on behalf of by Father in Law. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

I wprked at AS in the late 80's, when it was owned by the Trevelyans and Bob Halling (the man who actually built the very first AutoSleeper for the Trevelyans parents was works manager) It was sold to a management buy out in the early 90's and I think has changed hands since then.
As for the elevating roof, it was a great, simple design, though there were some aspects in the execution that could have been better. Most of the guys on the production line were good, but I wouldn't trust the foreman at the time to tighten a wheel nut and there were some sprout pickers sheltering from the rain who somehow got a job there..... Unfortunatly the elevating roof of the 00's was not so good, electro hydraulic, useless and dangerous. I'm told they have dropped that design now due to the problems with it, shame that they would not admit it at the time and reimburse my Father in Law and save him significant stress, worry and ill health. I suspect it was a sprout pickers assistant who signed off the roof design that I saw. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper
