Broken wire between the door and B post (where it flexes) without a doubt. About number 4 on the list of faults that always happen sooner or later!
Happy Christmas! |

Mine used to do that, it just went slow and didn't go down all the way, so I took the panel off and sprayed light lube into the actuator.....works every time now, jobs a fish

Try gently pulling on the two wires from the hole in the B post, mine did the same last week and they both were broken totally through, about halfway through the trunking to the door only a 20 minute fix though

Hi all,
Central locking still working intermittently however yesterday the back drivers side door wouldn't open at all. Drove over to the folks house - parked up tried it again and it all worked from the inside and outside handles but the door locking knob is now loose and does not seem connected to anything. Tried popping the door card off today and freed all the plastic clips round the outside but couldn't get the window winder off - surely not hard?!? Can I pop it off with a small screwdriver and does it have a retaining screw under the round end? Once I can get the door card off I can have a good route around - check wiring for central locking for breaks or poor connections, sort locking knob, lube all working parts and hope to fix it. thanks again Churchy |

There's a spring clip held in a groove on the handle, put a old blunt screwdriver between the handle and flat plastic disc and gently twist so you can see the clip, pull this out parrallel to the door and the handle will fall off.
Put the clip back onto the handle and snap back into place on refitting, remember to have the handle parrallel to the ground so its weight is trying to close the window.... Keith |

Great thank you - late night on the forum and still an answer! Brilliant.
I spotted the clip but left it as I have a habit of seeing them fly off never to be seen again! Will have a go in the morning. Thank you. |

Clips look like this and always fit this way so you know which way push.... Just put a finger so it doesn't ping into orbit....

A length of cotton rag can work wonders and not leave any screwdriver miss gougemarks. Pull up a 12" length of the material up from the knob end holding each end and apply pressure to the underneath parallel to the door card and gently saw away. The material snags the prongs of the clip and dislodges it letting the handle move free of the splines, takes a bit of practice but when you've got the knack is very quick and mark free

As Blackwolf said probably a broken wire. Check the wire inside the gater that runs from the B pillar to the door. Thats where mine had broken! 2008 110 XS CSW Stornoway Grey

Cheers Greeni, read this thread and found one of my rear doors was not locking - same problem and fix as you quoted. Would never have realised this, had it not been for the forum. Thanks |

Finally got round to this job today however too late to finish as the light fades.
Pair of old boxer shorts did the trick with the window winder removal so thanks for that tip! However now the door card seems to be stuck around the door locking knob somewhere - surely can't be this difficult! Any ideas? cheers Churchy |
