ScanGuage won't reset engine light
Have just had EGR valve replaced with a new one bought from local mail dealer, had t fitted by local garage as he's done a few bits before. Just got car back, go to reset engine light and it just keeps saying 'not ready'. So hit the force clear button, get the 'codes cleared' message. Turn on engine and its still there.

Listening to valve its doing it job as far as I can tell (you can hear the usual cleaning cycle) so really not sure whats going one Shocked

Unlike a proper diagnostic tool the scangauge must show --Ready-- before a valid DTC scan and reset can be carried out, as this indicates that all tests have been completed since the last DTC reset. This then shows that a valid test cycle has been carried out on the OBD. If --Not Ready-- is displayed, the vehicle hasn't completed some test cycles. It could take up to several days after codes are cleared for the vehicle/scangauge to be in the --Ready-- mode again. Thumbs Up

Ok, its now a few days and still cant clear light - no faults showing, even doing a 'force clear' does nothing, local independent garage looked at it and they also could not see any faults - really don't want to have to resort to booking it in at Main Dealers but not sure what to do Big Cry

I did the write up on some new remap files on Wednesday and cleared all fault codes from my Puma with the MSV, I then checked the scangauge today after getting an email notification of your post Kez, and it is still showing not ready.

The check engine light is the MIL, yes? That only illuminates when a tested DTC is logged. The scangauge does not show all tested dtc's as per the list on their website but the indie should have checked and cleared all DTC's after fitting the EGR valve. Do you know if he tried to do this? The fact the MIL stays Illuminated even after a new EGR has been fitted would have me checking the EGR plug as well as the adjacent MAP sensor incase anything was knocked when the EGR was being removed/fitted. Do you know what diagnostic gear the indie uses?

Checked all connection and all fine, took it to another indy who has vastly superior diagnostic kit and right software for the Puma (my local chaps was a very basic unit that by his own confession was a bit old). Found one fault (maf sensor - again) and cleard it, light now out and all fine...except, when I check with Scanguage it still says not ready - how weird is that Shocked

It will show not ready again because you just had the maf fault cleared with diag gear. So it goes through the test cycle afresh.
