Seat Rails
Has anyone got experience of the seat rails available from MUD or Exmoor Trim, the exmoor trim ones are quite a bit more expensive so just wondering if they justify the extra expense? Any experience of either types would be appreciated

Luke

Hi Luke, I'm 6'2" and consider either of these rail extenders to be a god send. I have the mudrails and it has enabled me to go on long trips in my defenders (TD5 and Puma) with no problem at all. In fact I bought two sets, just in case I had to sit in the passenger seat Very Happy . The only issue is that the front seat intrudes into the rear passenger area, just something to bear in mind. I'm thinking of selling them if you're interested, pm me.

Luke - there's lots on the forum about these, but in general ...

> they are available from a few suppliers- various designs
> you can make some from steel box section

or you can pack the rear seat fixing with washers to raise the rear end above the rail at the rear.

IMHO Mud have about the best name for these and I believe they have been safety tested.

First mod I did Luke. I've the mud rails and apart from the extra leg room I also find your elbow has a better resting spot.

6'2" as well. Mud rails are fantastic, got them on both seats.
the only downside is having to dip your head to see out of the side window when turning right - small price to pay for comfort. BM52

I did the self assembly approach with a couple of lengths of box profile, now I've got an idea to weld a couple of flags on the side to shift the driving position to the middle of the motor by about an inch. I'm thinking it might just give the feeling of a bit more room when driving, taking the shoulder away from the door post a bit. It may work it may not but as it just costs me time not money then I'll just tinker about with the idea. Whistle

Will do, might get myself motivated in the week, working on the motor at weekends is difficult as I have to look after my 2 boys. It's easier to keep an eye on them and forego what I want to do at the weekend to cut down on the "helpfull" things the eldest, who's autistic, likes to do around the house Rolling Eyes
