fords are well known for losing shedloads of cash in the first couple of years. You can get 8 month old focus diesels for 50% off new price.

Its a BMW for me so Im with Red Dot.

I have a 2008 118d msport 5 door which despite being only 143bhp (red dots is just over 200) is a great car. Its not very big inside and has few storage spaces but makes up for this in spades with its handling and the quality of the build. Mine manages 42mpg average in town driving (stop / start fitted from 2008) and about 50mpg on a holiday run. In the 3.5 years Ive owned it Ive never regretted buying it. Now at 36k miles it still feels like new, people appear to love them or hate them but once youve driven one round a few corners the back wheel drive handling makes you never want a front wheel drive car again. Only problem is its not worth even thinking about taking it out in the snow, but thats what I brought the landy for.

with the new model now out Id go 1 series and push for a big discount[/quote] DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

can't have it both ways i'm afraid. private the best for selling.I sold our D2 with ease ( very surprised) on ebay.

then having cash to bargain with and finance the rest worked well the other way.

Go Skoda - great engineering from VW and none of the crap (prices okay too)... Yeti is very nice but probably not your "thang" Laughing Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

cheers guys ...

popped into BMW dealer ... ignored. had a 320d estate looked ok

then audi dealer .. A3 s-line 20d again nice ...

had not thought of volvo .. used to have a v50 20d was ok but not very cheap to run ... still looking

- JT Petrol is not an option as I have done 30k since Feb 11
- RD thanks for the info. had not thought of a 123d

seems to be a good time, dealers are quite keen for a cash deal .. something to do with the end of the year awaiting latest offer on a3

Go for a bmw diesel then...the build quality is much better than volvo imo ( although I did like the v70 xc we used to have) Too bad the dealers are so "our shiite don't stink that they ignore a customer who would buy. Whatever you buy keep us up to date as it is always fun to car shop/buy by proxy. 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately)

I have owned my 123d for almost three years and the market was on its knees and i bought it from a BMW franchise for a good price. For a while no one even looked at a 1er but they have become very popular recently due to the Censored build quality and reliability is tops in the BMW range. I know of a red 120d with 200,000m on a '54 plate and with a wax it could pass for a year old. As for Skodas being Audis or VW's forget that rumour, they are not even in the same league with electrics and wheel bearing woes being par for the course. I was told that a 1 series uses the same floorpan as a 3... may be wrong?

Local taxis here use Skodas and they are very much inferior to other VAG vehicles... seats collapse and wheel bearings need constant adjusting. They get heater units melting after being unuble to switch the fan off.... In 3 years with the "Einzer" i have had a headrest replaced. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Funny - everyone I know who has a Skoda swears they're the dog's goolies Rolling Eyes
To be honest, VW are having pretty serious problems with build their quality too - believe me, I bought a T5 Sad Sad
Work friend "swapped" a Freeloader for a Yeti some time ago and is a very happy chappy - 50 mile round trip every day (6'6") and no complaints Thumbs Up
I don't think any cars are built really well... except my Audi A2:
