I assume that this is the result (power loss to protect the motor), but not the cause. In the past, the car was doing the same trip in the same conditions (and more hard ones) without any trouble. My main concern is that the problem appears between normal conditions for a car (at least here). 30-35°C for 4-5 hrs at 120 kph with 2000-2300 RPM no A/C. So, something is not working OK. I will check the the intercooler and the other things and I will come back. Thanks again to all! Similar problem on my Puma 2010 with 20000 Km, when the outside temperature is cool the vehicle runs fine, but as soon as the outside temperature get to 35 deg C the performance loss starts. At 40deg plus I can only get about 105-110 kmph, with the acc on this reduces to 95 kmph. The handbrake lever gets so hot that you can not touch it. The body area arround the handbrake, more so on the right hand side also get very hot. Still need to get under the vehicle to see what is in this area that can cause this high temperature.
Engine temp gauge stay in the middle and no other warning lights are on. I suspect that a protection mechanism is being activated due to the detection of some high temp sensor. Defender Puma 2010 |

Car not jerking but with outside temp around 35ºC at idle I can hear some funny noises somewhere related to the injection system Puma 110" SW

Call me crazy, but I bet if you got a BAS remap with EGR closed, this would not happen. Even better would be a bigger/better intercooler. This whole week the temp at home & work has been 33C-35C. Leaving home at 0700 it's already 25C and on the way back home it's 35C, yet no loss of performance on my landy. Hi, I know its my first post but been lurking for a while.
I'm going for a Temp problem if you haven't fixed it already, have had a couple of vehicles do this while at work. Once in the fast lane of the motorway. Turns out the thermostat was faulty, replace and vehicles fine ever since! Maybe worth a try for the few quid it costs! Dom |

Hummm,
I think that the problems is related with the radiator efficiency. Some weeks ago I clean the radiator using a garden hose with some pressure and the problem almost dissapear until yesterday at 120 KPH, fully loaded without the A/C (power loss again but this time the temp gauge going up for 1-2 seconds and then rapidly going down). check the coolant temp live data if you can, so you can at least rule out the CHT and the ECU employing the overheating protocol. Brian. |

Thanks Naks , looks like we are starting to get somewhere. I have just read the whole post on Landyonline (maybe you should post it for everyone's benefit), and it does seem encouraging. My warranty runs out in August - I've got a feeling I know what I'll be doing first.
