Random cut out
It started 5 years ago in the south of France, we had just left the campsite and stopped at a bakery for breakfast, Start the engine pulled off and then the engine cut out, Tried starting, but the engine would turn but not fire, Ignition off back on it started fine.
About six months later while driving the engine cut out for a split second, This has been happening more frequently lately. Roughly every five starts of the engine from cold it will fire for a second then cut out I restart the engine and it’s fine. Sometimes when idling the revs drop and come straight back. On occasions, I have to cycle ignition three times for it to fire.

Any ideas? I’ve fitted a genuine VCV last year but to me it more electrical. Possibly the multi plug in the dash? 2023 Defender L663 V8

VCV’s are fickle, and vary in lifespan, but if you do think it’s electrical then main power supply connections are worth checking, from ground points to main lives and battery clamps etc.

Usually these things get loose due to vibration over time, Relays loose in their sockets can be an issue, or slight build up of corrosion on the sockets / pins. WeWillWin🇬🇧🇺🇸

As above.. check the supply and ground to the power relays and ecu..
A waggle test of looms whilst running.and the same on the crankshaft sensor wiring..
Fault codes or pending codes worth checking , and possibly better still if if the tool is capable of the landrover specific codes , rather than just generic obd..

Thanks chaps

I don’t thinks it’s vcv related tbh, when it’s not firing it’s like the immobiliser has kicked in?

I’ve changed the crank sensor last week during my head rebuild, will check the wiring.

I’ve got a Nanocom and I have no idea why’s I haven’t checked Shocked
Been so involved with the rebuild common sense has gone out the window! It slipped my mind I had it 2023 Defender L663 V8

If it cranks, then it is not the immobilizer.
