Buying second hand you don’t know what you get exactly and how it has been treated.
Need to compromise if you want to save some money.
some cars leave the factory with defenctive parts… sometimes random sometimes it’s clear the reason.
In general the new Defender is a damn reliable thing.

Agree, but when I bought mine they were in short supply.
It had only 4k miles, this is why I bought used.
By far the most unreliable car I have ever owned

You've been unlucky. l've had no issues with mine over 2 1/2 years.
l've got friends with Defenders and theirs have been trouble free as well.

Maybe you should sell it and buy the new Land Cruiser, it looks pretty good from the reviews.

I have looked at the Land Cruiser and still do love the Defender. I use it more off road on the farm than I do on the road. To be honest I have a very poor dealer that doesn’t help

The Clue, is in the phrase LR Management Vehicle - aka LR Experience Vehicle in some circles !

I looked at one myself a few years ago, countless panels resprayed, chassis scuffs and full of mud, worn bushes - the list was endless - on the bright side she looked good from a distance with her new alloy wheels and tyres, and a polish ! How many people crawl around under a SH vehicle - or ask for it to be put on a ramp…

Based on my inspection of the underside of this one it hadn't seen anything more extreme than a puddle in the Waitrose car park.

Wow! Shocked

I have owned various Land Cruisers and twin cab pickups over the years and I've had far fewer problems in all of them combined than you've had with one defender. Mine will be traded in pronto if it starts that, mainly because I don't have the time or patience to mess around with dealerships.

Perhaps it has been "clocked" prior to sale.

Very Happy by Land Rover? That would be a new low, even for them!

The front suspension on my purchased from new D300 started knocking at 14k miles. Front lower control arms replaced under warranty which cured the issue for now. The question is whether the replacement arms will fail at 28k miles when the vehicle will be out of warranty….if I keep it.
