Morning all.
As per the subject, neither my front nor rear OS side lights are working. Rear light does NOT come on when I switch to full headlights. Note that the side lights are WIPAC LED and that the headlight unit is also LED with a Halo setting tied to the sidelight. The halo also doesn't come on. Indicators, horn, wipers and NS side lights and headlamp all work. This all relates to a UK spec, RHD MY2011 2.4 110 Puma Is the fault more likely : A. The switch? B. The fuse? C. The headlamp? D. The side light? E. The wiring? F. The WIPAC Led transformer ? G. The earth? H. It's a Defender so likely all of the above? Any help welcomed ![]() I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Grenadier
Did they just suddenly stop working or was something changed on the vehicle just before you noticed that they no longer worked? Jim |

Multiple gremlins recently. The o/s headlight has been a bit dodgy (yellow toned led rather than bright white). It doesn’t work properly on dipped or full beam, it’s sort of half working. Sometimes indicator on that side doesn’t work, but when I jiggle the connector by the bulk head, it starts working again. Horn was dodgy, but now works after I repaired the wiring whilst looking for the fault on the side light. But one constant has been that sidelight + halo, and tail light, have all worked fine. But ultimately the side life did suddenly stop working without any input from myself (playing with wires, knock etc). So I’m wondering if it’s a faulty wipac servo? Is it the wiring into the connector (which I think the block shaped gray connector as per the photo)? Is it the switch, or indeed both switches, i.e. the indicator/dip/flash stalk and the side/head lights on/off toggle? ![]() Click image to enlarge Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Transmission rear lighting loom ground, the additional one to the main with the two eyes on it.
That is a possibility, it’s on an approx M8 fixing, I am not sure what thread size or type exactly, it’s vertical on the side of the trans, more toward the rear, but at the side. It’s shared between various exterior lighting, so common ground. It can become loose, then cause sporadic lighting issues, I had it twice until I used some loctite 222 very low strength thread locker. It is torqued to a specified setting, but it still works loose, it’s subjected to a lot where it is located. Not guarantee it is that, but worth checking, you can of course use a Multimeter too. Thanks Custom. Are you able to describe exactly where it is?
As far as multimeters are concerned, I’ll have to do some YT and see what I learn, I’m absolutely rubbish with all things electric, more so with numbers, so a MM is about the worst tool invented for me. On another note, I noticed yesterday that it looks like my bumper on the side in question has been nudged, and that the light unit is sitting further back in its mounting, than the position of the NS light. On the NS, the light unit sits flush with the reveal on the headlight surround, whereas on the OS it is recessed by 0.5-1.0 cm (at a guess). No idea when the nudge happened, but the bumper has clearly pushed back and down a bit. What’s more, 18mths ago, some tw*t clipped the NS edge of the bumper and tore it off. Perhaps that impact bent/twisted the bumper? The front stop to the chassis looks buckled as well. Wonder if all this has put the wing out of alignment and in some way damaged the headlight unit and the wiring? It's unlikely to be a fault with the rear harness earth since this would affect the rear lights on both sides and not the front. No harm in checking though, especially in the absence of other inspiration.
