King Charles' bespoke Defender to be sold at auction
Defender to be sold at auction

I’m intrigued to see how much this goes for. Very nice example with low mileage. No doubt has been very well looked after!

I fail to see anything "bespoke" about it, it looks like a bog-standard 90HT with the cold climate pack.

It's in lovely condition and low mileage and, especially in view of its first owner, no doubt will go for a fairly hefty price.

Interesting but not surprising that the vanity plate was added after it left royal service.

Without the plate though it’s going to be pretty difficult to spot in a crowd of defenders… 🤔

I don’t think I’ll be putting a bid in! 2009 Stornaway Grey Puma Build Thread

We've seen quite a few of those KC bespoke additions with bum warmers and less steamy windows!

Which "he" are you talking about, HRH or the person who owns it now?

Value would be higher with a photo of Charles at the wheel - otherwise could just be an estate runabout used by anybody

Which just goes to prove that there are still people who are completely mad! Rolling with laughter

I wonder if that included the vanity plate.

The plate was not included in the sale but could be bought with separate negotiations with the vendor, according to the catalogue.
I saw the vehicle in the flesh last Friday when at the Restoration Show, very nice and well presented but I wouldn’t want to pay that for it🙂

I don't think LRnuts had notice that it wasn't the royal household selling the Defender but a private individual who'd already bought it and applied the vanity plate.

I couldn't agree more, that is a lovely rare thing and wonderful project for someone. I don't think that the hammer price was excessive either. Very nice!

This was mine a few years back...

Drove her from Cape Town to North Cape of Norway.
Then had to buy the matching boat Laughing
