Door leaks and wind noise
Hey all.

I picked up my Shiny Defender 110 Today. 75k and now 2nd owner Very Happy

Water in both footwells with wind noise and interior breeze on the motorway. Confused

It needs new door seals front and second row. Anyone had experience with the YRM seals, or best just to stick with original LR?

Also I have the two classic dents on front bulkhead where doors have touched and overall they don't fit that well. Just a case of "adjusting" or also get "Front door Buffers". Any tips?

Will also need to replace the Alarm and courtesy light switches all round as these are damaged

Any further advice of seals/etc I might need to stop wind noise and leaks?

Was potentially thinking about new hinges with new nylon seals but not 100% sure at this stage.

Thanks

YRM is a good company, but in my experience only the LR seals have the correct softness to stop you from having to slam the door to close it. You can try, but I would say avoid Britpart they never worked for me.

Wind noise and water in the footwell can have many causes but have a look at how the roof fits to your window frame, the screw there works loose and causes all sorts of discomfort. You need to remove the liner to see the bolts and replace it with same in hex head and locktite it.

Bulkheads on any defender now are suspect and you might find some rot as you start poking. For sure waxoil if your is in good nick to save you grief in future.

All doors should have stoppers, there is no reason to have them swing out and break things. Despite what people say Defender are fragile things, they just wear abuse and neglect well. A defender in perfect condition has received a lot of TLC
