Great update Matt and thanks for the cracking pics, the scenery up around there is all stunning and your 90 fitted in perfectly Cool

The route that you did in the pic, did you do it clockwise or anti-clockwise ? Clayton.

Thanks Clayton Thumbs Up

We did it clockwise, no particular reason and can’t see it makes a huge amount of difference either way Smile Matt.

A wise chap I went greenlaning with a few times always said leave the drive flanges standard - they act a bit like a shear bolt in the transmission, cheap and easy to replace. Just carry a spare one.

You seem to have 10 spline diffs. The weak point is at the diff side, where it narrows to 10 spline - to maintain the contact surface area for 10 splines, the splines are deeper, and that reduces the X sectional area of the shaft. And the drive members on 10 spline axles (DM still 24 spline) are beefier with more spline contact area compared to the later 24 spline axle DMs.

Nice pics, and a little envy for that 90, especially since the soft top conversion Thumbs Up 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Realised I haven’t updated this thread for a little while - not much to report other than just getting good use Very Happy

In absence of any note-worthy maintenance/upgrade events, thought I’d just share some pics since the last update:

Great looking 90. First time I have seen this thread. I'm going to enjoy starting at page 1, seeing the full journey.
