I’m not sure of the thread size but would be better to use galvanised rather than stainless, but if you do go stainless use A4 and coat threads in duralac to stop electrolytic corrosion and the nut welding on the spindle.

Thanks Ian,
Until I know what size nuts I'm looking for I don't know what's readily available so my choice may be limited! Anything better than the pig iron that's currently leaving streaks down my bulkhead would be preferable ![]() Thanks again Cheers, Paul |

FWIW, I use ACF50 on these regularly and there is no sign of rust after 16 years (granted, the car is kept inside and the weather over here is likely to be less rainy!) “A Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique.

The nut part number is AMR3934.
A quick online search with that part number + thread size comes up this link: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/rea...et.340390/ Mid way down shows a picture of 18mm, 1mm pitch. They are available: https://www.amazon.com/BelMetric-M18X1-0-S...SRT5N?th=1 Sorry if I yours turn out to be different. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

I seem to recall that they are M8 stiff flange nuts, but it is a while since I last took one off. If a 13mm spanner fits it would tend to confirm this.
The part number shown on LRCat is DLP500010 which has the description "Nut - windscreen wiper special" but they appear to be normal stiff flange nuts. EDIT: what is confusing is that DLP500010 and AMR3934 (as per Dinnu's post) are entirely different and clearly not interchangeable. I'll have to take a look at my spindles to make sense of this! I was looking up the part of a Puma (which I imagine is the same as a TD5 but possibly different to earlier vehicles) and this may account for the difference. I note also that the Landyzone link is discussing the rear wiper rather than the front, although I imagine that the nuts are the same. Last edited by blackwolf on 14th Mar 2025 10:08am. OK, demystified, and my mistake!
I was looking at the nuts holding the wipers to the spindles not the nuts holding the spindles to the bulkhead, and therefore answering entirely the wrong question. Ignore my post above. ![]() |

That's great, many thanks to all for digging into this.
So...it looks like they are metric after all (M18 x 1.0 pitch) but not a particularly common size! That Amazon product isn't available in the UK but I'll see what I can find online in that size. I do have some ACF50 in the garage so if I fit replacement metal nuts, I'll give them a squirt. Interesting that AMR3934 is plastic and mine are clearly (rusty) metal. My rear wiper is redundant now because I can't really see through the rear window so I'll remove that nut and if it fits the front spindles I'll order the plastic ones...that will sort the rust issue for good ![]() Thanks again for the all the useful info folks ![]() Paul |

So my rear wiper spindle nut isn't the same thread as the front spindles (rear is same diameter but courser pitch) but the M18 x 1 nuts do fit (I found a spare in the nut and bolt pot!).
Sincere thanks again for all the inputs folks, really helpful as always ![]() Paul |

Rusty streaks on my bulkhead was caused by the spindles rusting rather than the nuts- cured with a squirt of motorcycle chain lube - it has a high solvent content so good for hinges etc too

Thanks Revd, I had another look but the spindles are in good shape but I'll keep them squirted with ACF50 to make sure they stay that way!
Cheers Cheers, Paul |
