Potentially even better as end of year is fast approaching and they’ll be keen to shift a few last minute deals. 23.5MY 90 V8 Carpathian grey |

Hi Bigmeg,
For what's it worth, I used Rockar's website to gauge what's available out there. ![]() Click image to enlarge Seems that they are offering £2400 off the price right off the bat, but there's a £1000 future contribution if you get in touch with them, so £3400 off a 110 D250 S. When I was looking to buy mine, I simply said to a guy I was dealing with, if they beat it, I'd sign the papers. Park's in Ayr were able to beat the best quote by £700 at that time. To be fair to them, I also had 3 test drives in 3 Defenders with a different spec each, so they were eager to do the deal. |

Hi Eric Caterpillar,
That’s amazing mate. I really appreciate this (and everyone that’s replied so far). I’ve had to really save hard to even get in a position of thinking about a Defender doing two jobs so I can save enough and this helps me. I’d love to join the club. Thanks everyone |

When I ordered my car in Sept 23 (delivered Jan 24), all the discounts were coming in between 3-4%. Then I had a call from a dealer to say that they’d been having a chat to the regional sales director and he had approved a 10% discount (over £6k). I jumped on it even though the dealer was 90 mins away. Sometimes it’s a case of being in the right place at the right time. My advice - call 6-8 dealers but make sure they’re not part of the same group. Play one off against the other. As others have said, take advantage of the first quarter sales period ending in a few weeks - some dealers will sacrifice margins to achieve their bonus.

Small update to anyone that is interested. I went back to my dealer which is in Newbridge Edinburgh and they won’t budge on a penny more than £1100. I will try other dealers now or will order from Rockers Landrover.
Thanks for all reply’s so far. Appreciate your advice. |

That's massive difference to when i put a new order in October (it was on the road 1st march this year) when even on Carwow the discount was 4k (Sinclair Swansea) without pushing local dealers into more - i feel lucky i got an effective 6.5k discount (6k cash and first service free)
I guess they dont now need to discount if they have a healthy global pipeline, when i picked my car up I asked the sales assistant if there were still discounts and she said it would only be in the hundreds now and not in the thousands before. Have you thought of one of those specced up at dealers now for delivery and avoid the additional £2340 coming into effect from 1st April new car VED? |

Hi Munchie, thanks for the reply.
I wish I could go for a slightly used car but with finance usually north of 11% I just can’t find a car with reasonable miles and age. I have about 6500 for a deposit and about 650/700 per month on pcp to spare. I think the road tax has probably pushed my finances too much and I can’t justify paying almost 4K on road tax for the first year. Absolutely gutted to hear they are sticking 2400 onto the already high road tax. The dream is slipping away ![]() |

Hi they have new cars not registered yet, take a look at autotrader, still with the 6.9% finance offers and crucially if registered in March cheaper then 1st April. You won't get much of a choice but it will be a new car.
You could always opt for a RRS as there's discounts still on those. |

I’ve had a look on auto trader and nothing in my budget. Just to confirm the road tax. My road tax is currently at 1650 for the first year. Is it going up to 2300 or going up by 2300……so basically almost 4K for the first year.
Thanks Munchie |

The roadtax on a non commercial Defender is 2340 for the first year on a diesel, from 1st April this same new car will be 4680 for the first year.

Hello
What sort of miles do you do? I wouldn't normally look at leasing but the figures you mention a lease could work and tax is included in the lease.. You 6500 for a deposit and about 650/700 a month ( I assume if your financing this these is a huge balloon anyway at some point?) alternatively are you better with something like this? Being a dealer you with still be able to finance it etc.. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2...mp;fromsra |

Hello Stacey and thanks for getting in touch. I thought about the lease but want to eventually own the car and keep for a while if possible. I did actually see the car you have kindly put a link in for but it’s a hardtop which I think is more of a working vehicle. I shall keep looking though.
