TD5 in the States...what diff oil?
So oil is different than in the UK, so is there anyone that can point to a premium diff oil?

The diffs should have EP80/90 in them, and to be honest it’s not really worth mega high quality oils as they are basic old fashioned items. I go for more regular oil changes, than high very high spec oils. I assume your not running lockers or ATB’s which may alter oil type such as some ATB are mineral oil only.

I believe Americans call it 90 weight.

I use Swepco which is from the States. 201 or 202 depending whether you have an ATB. WARNING.

Thank you all, how about engine oil? ACEA A5/B5 is not easy to find and advertised for Euro gasoline cars.

That’s a really old standard and virtually any synth made today is compliant. I use Castol Edge Fully synth.

Hi,

Yes Castrol Edge here too, I have just ordered some 5w 40 for the first time as its getting older and in a mild tune.

A couple of points I can add is to be sure it has the 505.01 specification. This is required for Pumpe Duse engines 'PD' such ad the TD5 is.

Also make sure it is diesel engine compatible, it needs the extra additives to cope with all the extra soot which diesel engines get in the oil. We had a customer recently buying what they thought was diesel oil in the USA but did not have the additives required for diesel engines.
