Dealer Discounts

Hi All,

I think I am now in a position financially where I can just about afford to get myself a new defender. I am looking at the 110 D250 S (would love more spec but the S is all I can afford). I am being quoted book price of 60,450 otr. I am wondering if anyone has had any joy with discounts and if so how much have they managed to get off. I am in central Scotland and it would be finance I would need to purchase the car.

Any advice would be very welcome for this naive buyer.

Better option is to look for stock. You can get better discount on that. Lookers glasgow Hillington are not doing well, check what they have available and anything around 65/66 mark will easily go down to 60/61. They never have S trim in stock, always something with interesting options.

Thanks for this mate. I’ve had a look and all looks a bit pricey although at the very least I’ve noticed that they contribute 1k towards your deposit.

In reality the S spec is all you need, but as said they don’t stock them as that’s not what they want to sell you. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

It’s defo all I need. Heated seats, sat nav, sensors it’s all there. I may pay extra for the blind spot monitoring mind you. Looks like I’ll have to buy new and at the list price.

Couldn’t agree more but my bank manager disagrees. I would love one though but more than happy with the D250

It might be worth checking Carwow to see if there’s any discounts out there - I’ve used it for the last two purchases including my Defender in November. I didn’t end up buying from the garages directly, but used it as a way to negotiate a better deal with the dealership more local to me.

Also, as mentioned worth keeping close to dealer stock that they’re happy to discount and trying to keep close for any cancelled orders they might need to shift.

Thanks for the reply mate. Yeah I have went onto car wow and only got one reply back which was 1400 off the price which is better than nothing. I will certainly keep checking stock but will end up ordering soon I think. The test drive I did I was blown away with the car. Loved it.

I ordered in December and got nearly 4k discount from Sinclair in Ludlow. I know they’re far away but they did the deal over the phone.

Play the dealers off. See what deals are available nationally - phone around. Carwow is a good place to start.

Also, play off the dealers sales targets. End of the month and quarter are good times to buy either placing an order or buying current stock.
