The hi/lo switch definitely alters the engine revs for sure and I know I have one as I have just changed the transfer case for a reconned one and the switch is in.

What needs to be considered here is whether there is a voltage across the two contacts A & K, as indicated in the photo, when low range is selected, which is not present when high range is selected. Assuming there is a voltage present, then I would have thought it was possible to solder in an appropriate sized LED. But, it wont be something I will be doing as it seems a bit superfluous.

The high/low can't be made functional just by fitting an LED, there's no software functionality in the cluster to drive it.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
