TD5 Alternator Connector
Hi All,

I’m struggling to reconnect the Denso 3 pin connector (IR11?) to a brand new alternator (correct model, same connector). The pins look OK but it is very hard to see the connector and the lead is short. Has anyone had the same problem?

Thinking I might cut it and lengthen so it’s easier to work with. Possibly solder a new connection on.

Lee

I found the connector lead quite short as well and also a pain in the ass to unplug. I used plenty of contact cleaner to try and blast away any crud. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Thanks. I have one of those on order. I am away from the vehicle at present but think there must be some crap stuck in the old one. I did spray it but will try again before cutting it.

I had a lot of crud in my connector. To make the amazon one better, if you could get the plug for the other end then you could extend without having to cut wires. 1999 Defender TD5 110

What happens if the connector/cable fails? Does it just give a false warning on the dash, with the battery happily charging of the main alternator feed?
