THE Holy Grail tyre?
Spotted this earlier in the week - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/356467414441

Is this the one we have been searching for? Any comments on quality or sizing? Anyone know about the brand?

I'm aware getting a set to the UK may have it's problems (import duty/VAT/etc) but even then, if they are a reasonable offering, might be worth it?

It's an odd brand, on eBay and a retread. What could possibly go wrong?

Laughing

As above. Imported, fitted and balanced It's going to be more than £200 per tyre, for a remould.
The size may be perfect, but nothing else about it is.

Ziarelli Tyres are manufactured in Italy so possibly better quality than some of the Far Eastern remoulds that are on the market.

Good luck with those - all in, they are not a cheap option for a remould and an unknown make. Personally wouldn’t touch them. I’d just buy a set of Toyos - seriously an exceptional tyre at sensible money.

This is kind of what I'm thinking. Insa tyres (Spanish?) have a reasonable reputation, so the Italian brand, they have been around for a few years now, should/could be ok?

I bet the real deal BFG version would be £300+ per tyre in that tread/size!

Not really unknown... lots of places used to sell Ziarelli tyres pre-covid in the UK.

I have some Ziarelli tyres.... not this tread or size.

Personally I like remoulds for super aggressive MT tyres used for off road competition. And when they used to be super cheap. An expensive remould AT has no appeal personally.

Sadly off road tyres in general seem to be short supply on lots of sites currently in a wide variety of sizes, but esp 15 & 16 inch sizes. Not sure what 255/85's are actually available, I couldn't see the Toyos in stock last week for instance.

I'm not overly keen on the Toyo MT, but I'd say it is likely a far better all round tyre than the AT remould.

I assume that's a typo and you mean 255/85?

If so, that's a great price. Who was the supplier if you don't mind me asking?

I've got a set of 5x KM2s that are nearly 10yrs old (had them from new) and at 40,000 miles are still going strong with plenty of legal life and good for greenlaning etc. But I'm mindful that these will need replacing at some point so if a bargain presented itself might might buy 4 so I'm covered for the next 10years with a couple held back for spare wheel duty.

Just having a look around at some of the normal tyre places, 3 of them don't even let you select 255/85 at the moment. And the 4th places does let you search, but the only 2 results are out of stock......

I have found these on eBay...

Good price and probably a much better tyre off road than the Toyo MT.

Drumstick, that's the same Italian supplier as the Ziarelli tyres so would still potentially fall foul of all kind of import issues post-Brexit?

It's odd that the size is currently painfully short of supply but this manufacturer has a wide range of remoulds in that size? Makes me wonder if they are using 235/85 casings and calling them 255/85s once remoulded because they re so much bigger with the additional tread & rubber?

Had this issue with the insa tyres where I ended up buying the 265/75 variant instead of the preferred 235/85. On paper both tyres should be the same height, but in reality the 235 width was spectacularly smaller, as if they were using the wrong size carcass?

I would go with Toyo or Nittos as well. I saw that tire and it’s super cheap, to me and would pass also. 23 LBW/Urban Defender X
