The original front interior light is operated by a two-way switch which switches the return (-ve). Off, straight to earth, or earth via the alarm module. On my Icarus the 3 leads for the interior light can be found at the back of the map shelf on the RHS, the two ‘earth’ leads and a permanent 12v supply. The Alu-cab light has only a one-way switch, so you need to choose between having the light operated by the opening the door or switching it on and off when required. 1988 110 csw 2.5Td (19J) (gone)

Yeah, I spotted this. It's just disappointing that for the cost, you would have thought they would have put in an appropriate light switch to follow the standard switching.

I wired mine so you leave the Icarus light switch to ‘on’ then it is switched on and off by the door pin switches and also a switch on the dash if you want it on whilst both doors are closed. 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html

I was going the wire mine the same way as db950, I even brought a 2-way switch to mount on the dash, but the earth return via the alarm module does not go fully open circuit. This results in the light remaining on with the doors closed, albeit just a dim glow. Not sure if this is a faulty alarm module or something else. One day I'll find the time investigate further. 1988 110 csw 2.5Td (19J) (gone)

Don’t think it’s due to a faulty alarm module, my light will every now and again flicker on for a millisecond and I don’t have an alarm module!
I think it’s due to it having a positive supply to it permanently and picking up a very faint earth, yours via the module, mine via the relay used for earth switching from the dash switch. To eliminate would probably have to switch both the positive and earth via relays from the door switches ![]() 2014 Discovery 4 SE Tech Instagram @the110camper |
