Defender Insurance - Again
Just wondering who people are using at the moment?

I have always used Adrian Flux but just found that for the last year they insured my 2013 Defender Utility for £2000 instead of the £20000 I asked for. I.e. I paid the full price for 10% of the required cover. Perhaps I'll get a refund? Appears someone had a typing issue.

Fortunately no write offs or thefts occurred. Rolling Eyes I only found out because I queried the 18% price hike on remewal. "I have here Land Rover Defender 110 Utility, value £2k, yada yada..." "Sorry, did you say £2000?????".

NB Even if you have never had an issue for over a decade, always check the paperwork. 2001 Defender Special Vehicles TD5 Hardtop (Ex Scottish & Southern) Side Lockers, Side Hatches - Poorly chassis and bulkhead. (SORNd)

I'm with Lancaster, mostly because mine is too old (1991) for the main players to touch it - compare the market was coming up with quotes in the four digit range, but they have been pretty competitive on more modern kit as well (though not EV's for some reason)

I've just renewed with Flux, 36% less than last year's premium, after switching to them last year.
With that I didn't bother trying elsewhere.
The cost is back down to where it was 2 or 3 year's ago, with a little lower mileage than I had then.

... I'd better check the documents thoroughly incase of mistakes!

Despite them saying they were getting away from Defenders, I've continued to get a good price and service from Howdens (formerly A Plan) 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Same here, still with Howdens via the Thatcham Office, renewal this year was surprisingly cheaper than last year Thumbs Up Craig.

Me too, but not with the Thatcham Office, I am with Ipswich.

I was ready to be told to go whistle last year but was pleasantly surprised.

Have used NFU insurance for about 15 years on my current Defenders, one after the other, and been a member of the organisation for some 15 years prior to that.

Unfortunately, this year, I feel completely ripped me off. My vehicle is a 2016 90 Hardtop; I've never had a claim; have a full NCB; vehicle is just used for social, domestic, and pleasure; no modifications; limited mileage; £250 deductible; and for 2025 my premium has increased from £444 to £701.

When I queried it, a young lady in my local office thought they'd made a mistake and kindly said that she's refer it back to the underwriter and revert.

Well, they reverted today, one day before renewal, to say that the premium was correct and that there was nothing more they could do. So with just a few hours before the policy was due to expire, I've had to pay them £701. It's an outrageous price and I can now see why so many people don't even bother with insurance. Not happy.

They have realised how cheap your insurance was and now they want their money back.
I would have not insured the car with them just by principle.

Wow that’s lucky, good job you didn’t have to make a claim like you say …

I’m with Adrian Flux, have been for the last 3 years. Though I have just checked my paperwork and all looks ok!

My renewal is in the next few months, I’m trepidatious around what it will bring… 2009 Stornaway Grey Puma Build Thread

Don't you get 14 days to cancel, if you do look around for a better price!

I've also gone back to Howden, following a year of having to move away from them. It's strangely all or nothing with them - either fantastic, competitive service or simply can't insure me!
