[Wanted] Cheap small car for new driver

Hi all

After a small engined car for a new driver.

Have looked on Marketplace and EBay but way too many scammers….

Nothing over a 1.4L engine. It’s for a lad so no pink cars..😆

Up to £1500 budget.

2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Cairns Blue

When do you need it by?

My son will be upgrading this summer from his 2011 1.2 VW Polo mark 5 in met Silver.

Lovely little car, we bought it with 56k now at 88k I think.

Body not perfect but very good 7/10, really only paint. Mechanically fabulous, regularly serviced.

Runs so beautifully. Even got a/c.

Have you looked at any of the salvage auctions?

Synetiq is quite good, a friend of mine has recently bought a Skoda Citigo for his son from there, unrecorded damage (cracked front bumper, damaged headlight unit) for £600+ fees.

2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Santorini Black

I was lucky, I picked up a 2 owner 2011 VW Polo 1.1 with 70k in mint condition for £2k in November and insured it last week as he just passed his test (17 year old) and the insurance was only £907 fully comp

There were a lot of category cars out there, which I did consider, for a first car on a budget I don’t think there is anything wrong with a Cat N (bodywork) if it’s been repaired well. 2023 Defender L663 V8

A good friend of mine deals in these sort of cars on his forecourt here in Wales

2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Keswick Green

My grandson has just swapped his Vauxhall Corsa for a newer model. It’s got a 1.4 engine and has done well for him but the paintwork is a bit ratty.
They live just north of Peterborough, it’s within your budget

You bought a black 200 TDI 90 from near Winchester from a good friend of mine.

It was with Hastings Direct, my daughter had her first car with Ticker which was quite cheap compared to others but for some reason were way off compared to Hastings. 2023 Defender L663 V8
