Knocking from steering column
My D300 110 MY24 has had an annoying knocking noise from the steering column since new. Its noticeable at low speed on road, and even worse if driving on a track with some bumps. If you wiggle the steering wheel from side to side when stationary, you can hear the noise too.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this and had a fix?

Hello

I’m having this exact issue. Had it since new and I think it’s it’s always done it but I think it might be getting worse.

Mentioned it to the dealer on a service but they said they couldn’t recreate it.

Did you find a resolution?

Hi Matt,
Sorry for the late reply, I hadn't checked the forum for a while.

The dealer did have trouble understanding the noise that I was explaining at first, but after I took them out for a drive it was quite obvious.

They told me they replaced the lower UJ on the steering column.
This resolved the issue an no more knocking noise... until this week.
Exact same noise again.
I'm going to get it booked in to see what they find this time.

Might be worth checking the front lower control arms. I had a knock from the front going over pot holes and rippled roads which after some persuasion the dealer replaced the arms which cured the issue. It’s not unusual and there is a Topix note ref this .
