Fuel Leak Off Pipe connector popping off
Hi there I have had an intermittent problem where the number 4 injector leak off pipe connector (green plastic thingy) is popping off the injector body. (2013 2.2)
When it happens I get an instant diesel smell in the cabin then when I pull over I have quite a lot of diesel spilling onto the ground. A lot of diesel.
It occurred today 5 times in a row causing me to have to pull over every couple of kms to reattach it only for it to do it again. When I re-connect it I give it a pull and confirm that it has seated properly.
Cant seem to find a topic on the forum about this. Has anyone else had this happen? Is this likely to be a fuel pressure issue caused by a blockage?
I am 300km from home so hoping to get an easy fix for now. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

For £100 I’d buy a genuine leak off pipe to replace your current one and hopefully that will sort the problem.

The leak off pipe is a replacement item if you have had the injectors out in the past. Connector could be worn as it’s just plastic. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

I'd check the other pipes to confirm this is the case , but I'm pretty certain the leak off pipes are retained by a metal clip..
Is yours present?

Some are.retained by metal clips, most are retained by plastic clips which break easily. The clips are widely available e.g. from Ford, eBay, etc.

Hi thanks for replies I have tried to attach a photo of the leak off connectors, hopefully it uploads. They are definitely plastic, no metal clip.

I also had purchased a genuine replacement leak off pipe several weeks ago but as the problem hadn't reappeared I did not install replace the current one.

Why would there be such a large amount of diesel coming out of the pipe?

Cheers mate, interestingly the injectors were replaced by previous owner around 6 months ago.

So where exactly is your leak off pipe blowing off from..
The leak off fitting ...ie the black plastic bit with is retained in the injector by a metal clip..it's visible in the photos..

And possibly the best way to check this is to do a leak off test on all four injectors...I dont know the quantities at say tick over , but they should all be about the same..if not you have likely got a faulty injector..

Thanks for the reply mate @andy63. Yeah the female green connector is disconnecting from the male piece attached to the injector.
