Thanks and agreed - appreciate the help from everyone so far. It’s booked in but that’s a few weeks off so I was hoping to see what I could find out first, but without axle stands or trying to remove parts, I’m not sure there’s more i can check. I poked and shoved whatever i could today but didn’t get anything unexpected. Just able to get something from the drop arm ball joint… which seems massively unlikely to be this issue, though it could be another issue. Is this normal? I’m not applying a lot of force to it.

Not really an issue as long as the clamps at either end of the tube/rod are tight.
