Steering Dampers. Adjustable vs Standard.
Hey. Anyone used the TF 4 Stage Adjustable Steering Damper TF833?

Is there really an advantage to changing the settings or is it unnecessary?

And where does the dial face? Wouldn't want to be out doing something and it gets knocked off... 110 SW 2.4

It's said that if the suspension and steering system is set up we'll that a damper isn't needed. Having said that I'd like to try one with a different damper to see if it's , well, any different. My old 110 had two fitted and on removing one it shook like mad until I tightened up the swivel pins to the correct amount, then it was fine, so clearly didn't need two. 1983 110 automatic OM606

I’d have thought it’s just make the steering heavier.

It’s not as if the steering damper moves back and forth like a shock on the axle. There is relatively little movement. Maybe if you have huge tyres like 37-40” then more damping may help control the mass. But I struggle to really see the point of upgraded steering dampers, let alone adjustable ones. I’d guess their main purpose is to lighten people’s wallets! Very Happy
