D250 remapping, where and was it flawless?
Any D250 owners out there that have upgraded the ecu power/torque?

Has it been flawless and without issues/niggles, and what were you charged?

I ask as the only place I found on the internet is a horrid distance from where I live (10 hours return) so eager to source a closer mapper.

Did you go from 250bhp to 300, or 350?

I went d300 cause upgrade to d350 wasn’t available.
I read on their website d350 upgrade is available for late d250 MY24.
No doubt I would go for d350 immediately now. Might get mine mapped to d350.
However I have driven a new 110 d350 and the difference between 300 and 350 is not noticeable as much as it is jumping from 250 to 300. D350 gives a nice kick over 3500rpm. Between 2500 and 3500 not really much difference.

l can count on one hand the time my D250 has exceeded 3,500rpm in two years. The engine is so strong it's not necessary even when towing.

Laughing

Very occassionally, on a warm summer's eve, at a particularly dodgy intersection, if I floor it with full lock from a standstill, I can get the tyres to squeal. Cool
That's all I need.

I would say that if you're really trying to make progress on a decent country A-road and need to dispatch with a red hyundai doing 45, it would be safer to have a 'faster' defender.

But for me, I almost always have a wife, baby and a dog in the back - at least 2 of them are guaranteed to puke if I take a corner at the national speed limit. So generally I ease off, settle in with the meridian and enjoy some light MPG improvements instead.

I have always wondered how detectable these upgrades are during service, and if they can be removed without leaving a trace upon return of your 'unmodified' finance vehicle?

The upgrade makes the engine eager to rev higher—without any drama. As a result, the engine feels more responsive and ready to go when needed at lower RPM. The additional torque makes all the difference; it moves effortlessly and makes the car’s weight disappear (at least in a straight line…).

My driving style with the Defender is very relaxed. The extra power is there when needed, and it’s not in any way harmful.

The software is installed using an original map and the Pathfinder software. The first consideration is that we’re simply installing an original map designed for this engine. Secondly, the engine itself is the same across the different power outputs, so I can’t see any potential issues this could cause.

The third point concerns warranty claims—each to their own, but I struggle to see how Land Rover could deny a claim when their own engine is running their own map. How detectable is it? It would certainly take a lot of effort to find out.

As a general rule with mapping, avoid tuning boxes, always use a highly professional and reputable company, shorten service intervals, and don’t abuse the additional torque and power. In 20 years of mapping all my cars, I’ve never had a single issue related to mapping.

Yes l guess there's no disadvantage increasing BHP from 250 to 300, most insurance companies seem to be happy with an "engine chip" as they call it, so long as the increase is no more than around 25%.

l may get mine done once it's out of warranty. Not that l've found the D250 in any way lacking. As a Commercial Vehicle l can't do more than 60mph on "A" roads anyway.
