Hi all,
My head unit has finally packed it in, it was an aftermarket NZ502E by clarion, First the navigation started going weird (no GPS signal ever), then the flip out screen, and eventually the main controls packed it in, so I had to listen to the engine and whistle to myself for a 100 mile trip home. So in the market for a new head unit, and would appreciate some recommendations. Seeing as the old unit was all singing all dancing if a little old at 13 years old it’s quite handy to have built in GPS navigation, this that and everything else but considering the use I currently put into my defender I’m struggling to justify the cost of even a replacement nz502e - a 13 year old head unit. As such I need to replace it either way as the only reason my partner puts up with the defender (possibly me too) is because I let her play Taylor swift as we drive. I think I have four options;
Buy a basic Bluetooth 1 din no screen head unit from Halfords knowing I most likely will hate it and end up buying twice because deep in my heart I want the below. Buy a second hand unit from somewhere at a decent price. Buying a mid range unit with a screen and some features. Buying a top of the line unit like an alpine halo 9 or something.
Would appreciate some recommendations, Really my only real must is Bluetooth, 1 din and a known brand, not a fan of generic Chinese units. Navigation and yellow AV in for reverse cameras are preferable. Thanks!
