I've seen a gritter in Hereford city tonight, now this I can understand as it is forecast a frost by morning. What I couldn't understand was the gritter I saw working last Friday at 10 o'clock in the morning in brilliant sunshine(having to use sunglasses to drive) with the temperature reading 8'C on an outside reading thermometer. So that's where our council tax goes to.

Gritters not been really out in this area yet. Complete gridlock in this area this morning because of some ice on one road! Let's face it this cold spell has not been forecast or anything. YES the local council has plenty of road salt for this winter. Yes they are hanging on to it as well!

Yesterday morning brought the Legend home from the office parking in absolutely dry and sunny weather. The forecast said it was going to be dry but cold for the entire weekend. Perfect timing for Ctekking the battery overnight I thought.
This morning at 5AM............, snowing, with an inch or so on the ground already . And obviously first thing I saw was that our three local village gritters large and small were alreay liberally salting all the roads at that early Sunday morning hour. Still snowing. Guess the Legend is going to spend a little while home under cover until it all washes away, ....eventually. Eric Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

I HATE THEM . I called up the council last July and asked for a gritter to come out . That my Land Rover chassis hadn't seen salt for some months and that the weather man says its to be a chilly night .

lol if you own a @rap vehicle like a Defender the road salting does bring you out in a cold sweat.
No escaping it. I did a trip over the M62 last May when it hadn't been gritted for a while and it started raining. The defender was definitely crusty by the time it got home. So from that experience we have salty roads at least 6 months of the year. Jonno |
