Flywheel compatibility
Hi folks,
I currently have the big one under surgery and was just about to change the clutch to a LOF PowerSpec one.

However, when I went to clean the pressure plate I noticed the label “Measure flywheel step, Only use with 25.4mm stepped flywheel, if different please contact LOF”

Quickly measured and mine comes in just over 23mm…

I take it that they, clutch (or pressure plate respectively) and flywheel are incompatible? The clutch that came out was a Transit 4x4 one, but I did not know you need to change the flywheel with those? Is it just still an early production flywheel since it’s a MY09?

How do I go from here? Any options, other than getting a new flywheel?

Cheers,

Felix

Do you have a new pressure plate to hand.. does it measure up to similar dimensions as the one been removed..
If it did and you are dealing with a concentric slave/release bearing I'm thinking 2mm should be OK.. and could be accommodated in the scheme of things..
Perhaps best to give Luke a call and ask what is best...

Have you got this sorted? I've found out something interesting. I purchased a LOF Power Spec bundle which includes the clutch cover, clutch plate amongst some other parts. I was going to use my original flywheel. After pulling it all apart, I did not like the look of my flywheel due to scoring etc. This measured 25.4mm. So I contacted Luke at LOF to purchase one of their flywheels. He was super helpful. Thumbs Up

It turns out that the clutch cover I bought in the bundle doesn't work with their flywheel. So I returned my clutch cover, and Luke posted out one of their flywheels with a new clutch cover. Their flywheel measures 23mm. I'm busy fitting all this now.

So it appears there are different flywheels. My car is a 2.4 Puma 2011.

Hey folks, I have a solution on the way, clutch and gearbox hopefully going back in next weekend!

Interesting, thats why he couldn't provide me with a flywheel I guess. In the end Luke sorted me out with a new 23mm clutch cover since this was the most cost efficient solution with my flywheel still looking good at only about 120k km, probably less.

Its really quite the mess and makes it quite frustrating to find that you have a different flywheel fitted then whats your replacement is made for. I am just happy that Luke puts these stickers on his covers, otherwise I would have noticed only once I had destroyed the slave cylinder...

Will keep you posted if everything works out in the end! Thumbs Up
