Just received this update.
"We’re excited to announce our Two-seat Grenadier Quartermaster will be here very soon, with first deliveries expected in early 2025. Sharing the same class-leading off-road capabilities as the Quartermaster, which was recently crowned Irish Pick-Up of the Year 2025 at the Irish Car of the Year Awards, this two-seat variant adds 850 litres of internal loadspace. It retains its payload of up to 835kg, the same 3,500kg towing capacity, and the wide tailgate that can support up to 225kg when open. Plus, with the rear bench seat removed and a full height cargo barrier installed, it benefits from lower BiK rates compared to 5-seat passenger vehicles. Obviously, they're running out of Recaro seats.
Soon they're gonna propose a one seat version |

Needs 1000kg+ to make HMRC ‘commercial status’ so seems a waste of time…..??

Yeah, on the continent we're soon gonna have 4,25t for a B license. TheEU Parliament has already voted the law.
But it's only for electrical, fire engines and camping cars since they're having huge design problems with increased dead loads and therefore reduced payloads of contemporary vans |

And with respect to the Grenadier a 3 seater would have been a decent choice. That truck has an automatic gearbox and enough room in front

Brilliant! Do any other double cab pickups offer a two seat version? It seems a bit odd to me. I seem to recall trucks like the Ranger used to be fitted with a basic rear seat on a variant angled at the commercial sector and a better more comfortable rear seat combination on the more car like variants. Just can’t recall seeing anything like this before? |

Just on the subject of one seat versions, Post Office Telecommunications used to buy extremely basic vans back in the day with only one drivers seat. Larger commercial vans were also known to only come with a single seat. Haven’t seen anything like this since the 1970’s.

Not that I know of currently. I think some of the "king cab" pick-ups lack a rear seat, or have one that is so vestigial it makes even a Defender double-cab second-row look luxurious, but I am not aware of any four-door cabs which don't have a second row of seats. I am assuming that the Grenadier will still be a double-cab in two-seat form, mainly because I haven't seen or hear the slightest sniff of a single-row cab and extended bed. I suspect that there will be a shelf and cargo barrier in the second row. I think it will be very much a niche vehicle but I am sure that at least some market research has been carried out. |

For a moment I thought that was great news, but no, unless you own a motorhome, an electric car that can haul heavy trailers or caravans (?) or you drive an Ambulance?? I suppose for our Brexit paid of for people that just want to use their (capable) cars to haul some heavier loads like car trailers or caravans. The USA was great for that too, now I live in France and it seems nothing fun is ever allowed. Everyone needs to live this set (restricted) life, fit in with the plebs while the fat cats are still enriching themselves. |

I remember many years the work vans supplied by the company I worked for, only had a seat for the driver (and no radio!). They were only small vans like the Renault Kangoo today. When someone from the company came out for the day to do a time and motion study type of thing, they had to sit on a box placed in the passenger side. Ah yes those were the days! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

OT, but… Sadly, so true… “A Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique. -- 2009 2.4 Puma Defender 90 SW 1979 Land Rover Series 3 88" |
