Use 2 washer jets. Fit them where the LHD wipers go. Red topped (rear) washer pump.
Effective though not reassuringly expensive I'm afraid. Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |

Thank you - that’s really helpful.
Does your new one do the job well? And was it a straightforward swap? Possible to manage without taking the dash off? |

My Design Development one works far far better than the standard item. But I doubt as good as the Optimill option, and the cost shows that. I get about twice twice amount water, and I can get it where I want.
The CSI one looks like a good option, wasn’t about when I got mine. I think they all involve some dash deconstruction and doubt for the dash bit that the different models are any different. Obviously the optimill is the most work as it is more than just a nozzle change. Removing the one way valve (located by heater box) in the sytstem releases more power, and also stops the water freezing in the pipe. But longer press to get water. |

It does the job very well. As regards fitting, it's quite simple, remove the 2 ends of the dash and the dash top. Every screen washer modification will require the dash top off. Remember to judge spray pattern when you are driving not when stationary. The airflow over the front of your Defender will make them quite different. I have the Optimill washer system on my 110,it's good but could be better.
The flow rate is excelent, lots of water onto the screen, though, the downside of this is it empty's the reservoir very quickly, also though there are 4 jets, they are not adjustable,so,I find they spray a little too low on the screeen, meaning you have to let the wipers do 1 pass/wipe then squirt again to get water to then be dispersed onto the area of windscreen you need to clean. I worked out a fix for this by blocking one of the jets with Sikaflex, the result being, the jets now squirt higher up the screen. Marc. |

FWIW, simplest and least expensive fix I found was this…. LHD however I am certain a RHD set up would work just as well. Works as it should at any speed. Two dual jets on drivers side and single is enough on the passenger side.

I have an Optimill jet and it is great, however I found that it didn't get water above the driver's side blade and consequently the driver's side of the screen was difficult to clear. Because of this I fitted an additional quad jet (of the type in the eBay link below) to the offside arm. The result is spectacular and very successful but I can empty the reservoir very quickly! I am actually so impressed by the quad jet that I am considering fitting one on the nearside, which may render the Optimill superfluous.
I use a Disco2 headlamp washer pump for my screenwasher, and a second one (actually a similar headlamp washer pump off some model of MG Rover) for the headlamp washers. These pumps are bigger and significantly more powerful than the standard Defender pump but need some ingenuity to mate with the reservoir. Link to quad jet: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373830066003 |

Thank you - will have a look. Irritatingly and loudly, the prop shaft parted company with the vehicle yesterday and so a pressing repair will get in the way of improvements!
