Strange, isn't it? For years I hankered after a soft bar, so tracked one down, got it delivered to France and held it up against the grille, only to decide within 10 secs that the look wasn't what I was after for my truck. Sold it within a week and shipped it back to the UK.

I think it comes from that age-old LR/Defender owner's illness of being envious of the look of almost every other Defender out there and wanting the same for yours. Wheel types, roof racks, winches, chequer plate, roll cages, soft tops (or not), etc etc. We're never happy with our own, always coveting another's truck and trying to find ways to stick it on your own. Or take it off only to then put it back on again.

It is one of the many joys of Defender ownership which New Defender owners will never understand...."Do I buy the silly little box for my 110 or don't I?" is about the sum of their excitment... Monsieur Le Grenadier
