Fan/wiper combo switch
Sounds like a fancy upgrade but it doesn’t feel that way. 1996 or 7 (depends on who you ask) ROW D110 5 door wagon, LHD. When you put the fan on high, the wipers start up, every time. You can fiddle with it and keep the fan on high and stop the wipers…most of the time.
Is this a common issue? Easy fix? Just get used to it? ...

Welcome to both the site and the wonderful world of Lucas electrics!
I am working away just now so no access to my vehicle but I’ll give it a go.
Does your vehicle have A/C?
I can’t see any common points between the two circuits and have never seen this before.

I don’t have dedicated ROW wiring diagrams but can you confirm that the blower and wipers are different fuses?

Looking at the diagram I have they are on different earth headers as well, but that is not to say they aren’t on the same earth post. Check the earth point on the bulkhead for corrosion and tightness.

It also looks like the wipers and blower are fed from different feeds on the ignition switch. ( blower works with key in first position, wipers with ignition on)

Check for stray wires behind the dashboard chafing between the two circuits.
The blower high speed wire is green and grey (slate)
Low speed is green and yellow.

Wiper is a bit more difficult to assess remotely!
Red and light green plus a blue and light green are from the feed for flick wipe.
Any chance there is a short between them?

Sorry not to be able to say for sure where to look

Mike
