Hi, I fitted a Varta LED95 in the spring last year. It has performed well until it suddenly collapsed completely between Christmas and New Year. I did run it completely flat once. I am definitely not a battery expert so I do not know what that does to the battery. But anyway I am disappointed with the product and I went for something else this time (it is labeled as a Danish brand, but probably sold under other names. It gets a lot of praise locally).

Draining any wet battery completely flat will very likely kill it. Depending on how low a battery has been drained some can be resurrected with a smart charger with battery reconditioning capability. However to do that many would need to be partially charged with an old style conventional charger to give the battery a level of charge before the smart charger recon will commence working. Even then some / a large amount of damage will have been done and the battery life will be degraded / significantly degraded and manifest that damage in the colder months when the greatest most consistent loads are placed upon it. In essence I don’t think it’s an issue with the Varta LED95, I strongly suspect you would have had the same outcome with any wet battery after draining completely flat.
