Collection Inspection
Noting the number of posts on problems encountered on brand new vehicles shortly after collection, would there be merit in creating a sticky of things to check before signing on the dotted line?

My father has some 'amusing' anecdotes about how BL used not to check the cars before leaving the factory, and would pay the dealerships to do a PDI (who would just pocket the cash and tell the customer to report any problems at the 500 miles service...)

Speaking from my recent experience, in no particular order:

- check seats for any stains, discolouring, wear etc.
- check the battery state (12V) if possible
- check for any excessive wind noise (A & B pillars + rear door)

Good idea!

I would check the things that cannot be covered under warranty afterwards.
Transport damage to the paint, wheels and outside parts….
Paint damage from factory (Story to tell here…)
Glass cracked.
Tyres

Check the roof and roof rails. Mine had knife / scratch marks in them from removing the protective films.

Also any extras you ordered. I had carpets instead of mats and was missing USBs and they deleted the seat attachment system for adding things to the back of the seat as well as the seat USBs.

Make sure the paperwork is correct to. Mine was wrong so couldn't collected it! Twisted Evil Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

With the old Defender, if it started when you collected it from the dealer, and if the carpets weren't soaking wet, you knew you'd got a good one

Definitely, check the paintwork. However, having said that, the detailer who had my car for three days said paint on it was in an excellent condition, no scratches, no swirls, no any other marks, which apparently is not a given.

When I picked up my RR L 460 the lower part of the tailgate (at the edges) had small indents with paint being scuffed off to the metal. As the car was backed up into a wall ever so slightly with the lower part of the tailgate down (im sure that's not what happed but is the image that I get in my head when trying to image "how"...).
Also the drivers door had slightly more metallic particles that the rest of the car..
mind you it was one of the very first L460, but still...

Looking forward to my Defender due to arrive 1 Half of March... Big Cry

Having had a look at one of the L663 groups on FaceSpace, it seems checking the rear load floor panel is present.

Thinking back to September when I ordered, the one the dealership had in the showroom was missing that...
