retro fit heated steering wheel
The mistake I made buying the car I did , was to not buying one with a heated steering wheel, I realised this morning. Ive had one on every car ive owned for the last 20 years and forgot what a difference they make. I once did a retro fit on a 2007 discovery I owned and now need to do the same on my defender.
question is for those who know is ,which company does the best deal, or is it best buying everything from JLR and then getting it switched on....I just want the basic black leather, don't need carbon or any other fancy stuff.

I'm interested in this too. Only models within budget that had heated steering wheels were wrong colour for me or was missing something else such as digital display.

I know there's a few companies offering it at like £1800 ish but surely it can be done cheaper.

Like yourself i just want a standard wheel.

Speaking out loud as no idea if this is possible,

Can you buy a steering wheel from the breakers, with heated element, swap the air bag refit and have it coded to work?

Chances are the wiring etc is already in place?

No idea if this is correct but worth a google?

edit to see this is available for £500...

its a little more involved than just the wheel, you also need the wiring loom and clock spring (think that's the right term) bit with the indicators and lights etc

lt says "from £1,150 depending on the type of wheel"

Chances are the wiring etc is already in place?

Not a chance. Wiring harnesses are vehicle specific now. l wanted to fit the subwoofer in my Commercial but the wiring is not there.

£1,500 buys an awful lot of pairs of gloves, just saying!

I wanted to spec heated steering wheel with mine but didn't as it was only available with cold weather package which had the heated windscreen included which I couldn't abide because of the heating filaments which I found distracting when driving. Current: MY22 P400e SE
Prior: Discovery Sport HSE, Jaguar F-Type S, Discovery 3, RR Vogue

Different parts of the world have different specs.

If it has a standard steering wheel you will need the heated wheel, the harness and the clockspring, Hunters Prestige are capable of doing it and are a great company to deal with Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

This will be the first car I've ever owned with a heated wheel - although I have driven hire cars with one.

They are okay, but the use case in which they would provide benefit seems quite marginal - unless you suffer from Raynaud's Syndrome and the car is parked outside over night in cold weather.

For the rest: are you going to dash from the house with no coat/gloves/scarf/hat and try to drive off immediately - no. So you get into the car and start it up, then let it warm up inside before removing coat/scarf/gloves/hat and setting off. Even then, that's probably only for longer trips. For short trips you're going to be leaving all the cold weather gear on for when you have to get out at the other end... Smile

The heated screen: the filaments vary in thickness and spacing between makes, and appear to be much less visible than the one I had in an F-Type coupe 10 years ago. Maybe look at a few other marques that offer them to check if something less distracting is now available.
