Back in July, when we were in the buying process which ultimately led to the Defender, my wife and I test drove an F-pace SVR. What a magnificent vehicle. The sound it made when you mashed the pedal ... *chefs kiss*. It just didn't have enough room for us (neither does the Defender but alas, we make it work) to seriously consider - and my 6'6" 265lbs frame didn't fit comfortably in it.

Boy did I dodge a bullet there. I'd be absolutely mortified if I owned a Jag right now. I saw a video where it was reported that the ad was the work of over 800 people at JLR, and not a single one of them was like "hey, am I the only one...?"

Let me put it to these marketing gurus. I have money. I like nice, high quality things. I have absolutely no guilt over who I am or what I've achieved in life and have no qualms about "flaunting it". What you've just portrayed as your "statement of intent" is making me run, hair on fire, away from your brand at a pace that could only be met by your Supercharged V8. You already lost me at the EV-only idiocy, and now you've earned my contempt that is usually only reserved for select morons and evildoers. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package

Just when you think it can't get any worse, it does!

Have they poached the tea boy (sorry should that be the non binary tea person who identifies as them) from Mattel's Hot Wheels design studio?

The whole relaunch thing must surely be one massive joke to drum up controversy and grab the headlines. If not, then Farrage will be proved correct and they will surely go bust.

when a vehicle is that distinctive you don't need to put a name badge on back or front.

It was said to be a 4 door but if the leaks are a realistic design representation I think it will be a fantastic motor in the metal. Obviously whatever it looks like it will disappoint some but they were never going to buy a new Jaguar anyway. JLR need to do something different or they will be toast. Against the odds I reckon by trying something completely different they may well save the company, and hundreds of UK jobs. Fingers crossed, Britain needs Jaguar.

EDIT: The pink has to be a troll by someone! WARNING.

The color is obviously hideous but I actually don't think it would look that bad in a black or dark grey or silver. Kind of looks like a car from Cyberpunk 2077.

That being said, I'll never be caught in a Jag in my entire life from the moment that ad dropped. I don't want to even be seen associated with a menagerie of freak show rejects that the ad portrayed as the face of the Jaguar brand. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package

That big flat front will catch the bugs.

It does nothing for me but then I am not the kind of person who would spend out £100k+ on a car.

I wonder if they will have a charging point on each side like the XJS’s used to have fuel fillers. Those charging leads are not that long 😄

When considering all the individuals who have established car marques in their own right, has there ever been an individual who has trashed the corporate value of a brand as much as much as Gerry McGovern has to JLR?
The late 90s re-write of the XJ and the subsequent collapse in Jaguar sales and the failure to retain and capitalise on the original LandRover design and abdicating that utilitarian market is a case study on modern corporate malpractice.
Ordinarily I would applaud the absentee landlord approach an investing firm has taken to to a brand, but in this case many opportunities have been missed by an individual's misplaced desire to urinate on their territory.
The Freelander front on the New Defender is Exhibit A.

Supposedly the interior uses... household building materials like untreated/sealed brass, porcelain and the seats are made of wool. No leather. Supposedly they wanted to imply that luxurious interiors didn't need to be covered in leather. The seats are supposedly based on a "plinth" of alabaster.
Then I saw where the drive modes are selected by collecting a "totem" from an *exterior* compartment and inserting it into a giant center spine which divides driver and passenger. How am I supposed to entice the missus to "keep me entertained" on a long road trip with that giant spine in the way? Laughing

Just what the everliving f*ck are they thinking? What kind of mind virus has overtaken them? Alabaster and porcelain in a brick-shaped EV that relies on lightweight and aerodynamic efficiency in order to be even remotely effective as a transportation tool? 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package
