Afternoon all,
Now we have finished moving house the time has come to sell my lovely Ifor Williams BV105 box trailer. Bought brand new in March 2023 from T.H. Jenkinson in Castle Douglas. This is the 2700kg gross model with a 10' long box, 5' wide and 6' internal height. This is the perfect size for towing behind large cars/4x4s. It is spec'd with the excellent combined ramp/van doors option which gives great flexibility for loading as well as a front personnel door. I also spec'd it with spare wheel and rear legs and it has the option lashing eyes fitted to the floor. It also has Bluetooth TPMS sensors fitted which work with a free mobile app. It has full datatag trailer ID kit with RFID tags discretely hidden, datadot markings throughout and datatag ID plates on the A-frame. It comes with, 2x 5' shoring bars, set of 3 keyed-alike padlocks for the rear doors, 6x 750kg ratchet straps, 14x lashing extensions which fit into the longitudinal strips, 12x plastic corner protectors, Stronghold hitch lock & a bulldog wheel lock (not pictured). I have 2 full sets of keys for it and all the paperwork. Since i purchased it, it has covered just over 3000 miles (half of which loaded) and is currently with my local trailer place for a service. I have maintained this very carefully and tried to keep it as nice as possible. The only thing that shows it up as not being brand new is the slightly faded wheel arches! It tows superbly behind both our 110 and my Audi estate. The 6' wide version would be a bit of a liability on narrow roads unless it was behind a much larger vehicle. The current list price for this trailer is around £6600 without any of the options and extras so I am looking for £5500 ono Trailer is currently stored up here is North West Cumbria. I would be willing to bring it a little further south for a fair price for anyone interested. Great trailers, we have the same BV105 and they tow beautifully and have a impressive payload.

Hi Dave, sorry missed your reply. My knowledge on VAT is fairly limited, to clarify though this trailer was purchased by myself (privately) from the Ifor Williams dealer and I paid the full VAT amount on it at the time. It is being sold by me privately so the price is technically including VAT i guess.
Cheers Will. Price reduced down to £5500 now though. 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

If the seller is VAT registered and claimed the VAT back when they bought the trailer, on selling they will have to pay the correct proportion of VAT back to the tax man.
Example: A new trailer costing £5000+Vat = £6000. VAT registered customer pays £6000 for the trailer and claims £1000 back from the tax man on their next VAT return. On selling the trailer for say, £4800 , the would need to pay £800 to the tax man leaving them with £4000. This is the same if selling to a private customer or another business. |

yes that's correct but he clearly states he is a private seller and therefore no VAT can be applied or reclaimed.........

Steve,
My apologies if I have opened a can of worms!! As a VAT registered business it was in my interest to establish whether the trailer would be sold with a VAT invoice or not - thank you for your honest reply. |

Thanks all for the explanation, that makes more sense now. As I have always just been a humble employee in a large company I have never had to deal with buying/selling anything through a business
