Looking at Progression Ignition's smart distributor for small block Buick/Rover 215 Cubic inch V8. Nothing mechanical for timing, all electronic via bluetooth to your phone.
Is it a direct replacement? Any obvious issues? https://progressionignition.com/products/o...istributor |

Thank you for your suggestions TexasRover.
I was considering using the programmable dizzie to simplify dialing in the V8 for efficiency. As it is not a daily driver I might keep it stock and embrace the joys of fettling dizzies and carbs.... |

I run a Mallory unilite distributor with an MSD ignition on my Marcos with the 4L RR engine. It works very well. I have a similar setup on the chevy with an adjustable advance.
The mallory / MSD systems are well worth a look. Trevor |

We've gone MegaJolt. Cut the V8 distributor in half to keep the oil pump drive and cap it. Add a crank sensor - FORD EDIS - coil packs and a MegaJolt controller. We use manifold pressure to change the timing so can also view performance on the PC dashboard. I'm adding in a narrowband O2 sensor and gauge to look at fuel mixture. Still running a Weber 500/Edelbrock but plan to go full fuel injection at some point. The MegaJolt also has the option to add a temperature sensor to include extra cold start advance which is really good. Message me if you want to know more ...
