With everything going on they won’t be the last until JLR is only available through Amazon….
And let’s face it, Jaguar has no new vehicles to sell for at least a year and their new electric thing will be starting at £100k…..for a saloon car. May as well order the wreath now. How long will it be before the LR side put a stop on the petrol / diesel Defender.? And that’s one of the best sellers….. |

Arghhh that explains why they haven't gone for the remodelling....always thought it odd that they didnt adhere to LR's requirements.

...and I had mine booked in with them for 23rd December (bonnet catch not releasing and door rubber seal detaching on driver side). Now booking with Harwoods Land Rover Chichester - does anyone here know them?

I've got a D350 on order with them.
Apparently I'm being shunted to 'west London '. A little annoying as I'm already driving from South West and past my two local dealers to even get to Portsmouth. |

I have cancelled my order with Portsmouth.
I'm a bit put out that I was allowed to order an £85k car at the beginning of November when the company would have known this dealership would not be there to deliver my car. I've downsized my business before and months of planning goes into leaving a site and it's known about months ahead. Shunting me to a 4 hour round trip to west London which realistically means 2 trains to get there. The increase in cost (family train tickets) and fuel to come back plus any congestion fee needed plus a whole day needed to collect the car is annoying. It's more the principle of not being honest and no goodwill gesture offered to offset the extra cost and time. I don't expect them to pay for my family's travel expense as that's our choice to share the excitement together, but at least offer something for the burden it will cost me. So, maybe cutting my nose off to spite my face, but I don't wish to do business with a company like Sytner that operate that way. |

I can readily recommend Dick Lovett Bath (Melksham).
I didn't buy mu car from them, but they have been excellent with both mine and my daughter's cars. The chap that sold me my first Land Rover in 2005 is still there. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy. |

Shock, horror. JLR main dealer has no concerns for their customers I agree, that is shockingly poor customer service, but umpteen hundred posts on here should make you realise that this is normal for JLR. You have to feel sorry for the staff as they were probably kept in the dark about the closure, just like the customers, especially if redundancies were issued. There are some quite strict rules with regards to redundancy and how staff are told. |

It's always good to hear some good news stories about dealers Sadly they are very few and far between, but there are a few good ones out there. Duckworth's over this side of the country always seemed to be a good main dealer as well |

I'm definitely mindful of the staff. When I cancelled I said it's a first world problem compared to what they've gone through. I've exchanged a few emails regarding job search and finally congratulated my sales rep on securing a new job. I will take them at their word that they didn't know althoughthey should have been given 12 weeks notice (maybe some of that is gardening leave?) My annoyance is certainly directed at Sytner. £200 offer for added time and costs and it would have been golden. It's really not the money. It's the attitude and customer care. If something is wrong at collection, I have no faith in them now. |

You can make someone redundant and walk them out of the door after collecting personal items. It depends how long you have worked for the company and what your t&c’s are? You are correct that you have to pay them for their notice period but I would rather that than having to work my notice period. Most people would be lucky to get 4 weeks money. Statutory redundancy is a pittance. I think the staff on this occasion are probably being truthful with you.
I get exactly why you are angry and I would be too. |

I'm leaning that they did not know.
Again, playing devils advocate. Out of an entire dealership, I am sure some employees have been there for many years hence the notice they would be given. Notice was needed as the dealer is staying operational until just before Xmas. People naturally talk so news would have spread. That's a moot point. I'm more sorry that people have lost their jobs than I am at cancelling a new car. Wishing them all the best. Less festive sentiment to the higher ups at Sytner who not only allowed more orders but offered no apologies for changing delivery location |

It makes me wonder now what will happen to my closest (Guildford ) dealership.
They moved the service side to a couple of miles away and did upgrade that to the current dealership 'look', but the split Jaguar / Land Rover showrooms stayed the same. Since then they have changed hands from Hunters to Inchape to now Group 1. The LR showroom closed a couple of months ago and the sales are shared in the Jaguar building. As Jaguar have nothing the sell and judging by their laughable, er direction this week, i guess that they will be relocating to under the pier on Brighton Beach. I have no idea what's going on, and wifey has had four LR vehicles from them over the years, guess not important enough. |

I like Matford Exeter, but unfortunately for a lot of you very far south west.
They’ve always been good to me, and also up in MJ Fews, Glos, the latter being franchise now I think. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
